We buy food together.

Why we're doing this

For now, the club runs as a non-profit. We have three goals:

• Increase food security for our community.
• Support local Providers.
• Save money when we can.

Every penny goes to food. Right now, all the money paid to the club is spent on food, not on running the club. If the work ever grows too big for one person, we may need to add a fee to cover it. If we do, we'll be open about what the fee is and what it pays for.

How the club will work

This is how we plan to run the club once enough neighbors sign up:

1. Each month, Consumers pay into the club.
2. We pool our money and buy from Providers, or from our fallback suppliers.
3. We split what we buy between the households who paid in that month.

Wholesale and bulk sellers usually save their lower prices for big orders. One household can't reach those amounts alone. When we pool our money, we can.

It's month to month. Each month is its own agreement. Consumers can opt out at any time.

We'll be open about the money. Consumers will see what we bought, what we paid, and how it was split.

We can't promise you'll save money every month. We do promise to try our best. We'll do it while we support local Providers, cut down on food waste, and come together as a community in hard times for food security.

Where the food comes from

The club looks for local Providers in Caribou County first.

When we cannot find a local producer for a product Consumers want, we fall back to other suppliers, like distributors and bulk food stores.

We can't promise to find a Provider for everything you want, but we will try our best. Products that many Consumers ask for come first. Over time, as more Consumers join and we learn what people want most, we expect to find Providers for more products.
